Pill Cocktails

A vast array of meds, instructions, and my おくすり手帳 (okusuri techou, medicine handbook)

I've always thought it weird that people here will go to the doctor for something as little as a cold.  To be honest i think people here depend on the doctor far too much, but i guess if your healthcare system isn't in the crapper *coughgetwiththeprogramamericacough* why not go to the doctor if you are sick, since that's what you're paying health insurance for, right?  (Trying to refrain from more rants about healthcare back home).
So, my boss, Mr. Big Bear  took me to the doctor today, at the insistence of M-sensei, since i was looking and sounding pretty pathetic.  I could just be a big baby, but i hate sore throats and not being able to breathe through my nose!
I've also always heard that when you go to the doctor here, you get sent home with a ton of medicine, and it's true!  So i'll be shooting back these pills (and that nasty powder, i'm not sure how exactly i'm supposed to be ingesting that, really) multiple times a day for the next few days in the hopes that it'll help make the few days i am sick a little more bearable.

Hope you feel better soon. I am just getting better from a cold. My favourite sense to come back: smell/taste. I was worried I wouldn't be able to taste any of the yummy Christmas food around me.

Thanks! The meds have definitely been helping and i'm feeling a lot better already! :D
I totally agree with the smell/taste thing. And also, i hate chewing with my mouth open, so when i have a cold and can't breathe through my nose i feel like i'm suffocating while i'm eating!

The medicine is the same in Korea. I went in for a bad cold and had about 36 pills to take in 4 days. I thinks it's because they don't make a drug with multiple effects. (For example: Nyquil--helps you sleep, takes care of your nose, and helps your throat/cough).

The same in Korea too? That's quite a lot of pills! But i think it was about the same for me, though i stopped after 2 days because they were upsetting my stomach. Luckily i was feeling much better by then anyway.
Yeah, i figured that was the case, because when the doctor was prescribing the meds to me he was all "This one is for this symptom, this one is for this, etc.."

The powder meds are the worst. I can handle anything but the powders. : ( I mean I take them of course. But yuck.

I hope you're feeling 100% back to normal now.

Yes, the powders are the worst, especially because they're not easy to take like pills are.. the first time i tried to take it i mixed it in with yogurt.... not a good idea it was so gross!
Feeling much better now though, thank you! :)
